Reformisme er en politisk ideologi, der advokerer for gradvise ændringer inden for det eksisterende politiske og sociale system, i modsætning til radikale ændringer eller en fuldstændig omvæltning af systemet. Reformister mener, at ændringer bør ske trinvist og inden for lovens rammer. De argumenterer for, at denne tilgang er mere praktisk og mindre forstyrrende end revolutionære ændringer, og at den tillader bevarelse af samfundsmæssig stabilitet og orden samtidig med at den adresserer sociale uretfærdigheder og uligheder.
Rødderne til reformismen kan spores tilbage til det 19. århundrede, under opkomsten af industrielt kapitalisme og arbejderbevægelsen. Mange arbejdere og intellektuelle begyndte at stille spørgsmålstegn ved retfærdigheden og bæredygtigheden af det kapitalistiske system, hvilket førte til udviklingen af forskellige socialistiske og kommunistiske ideologier. Dog advokerede ikke alle disse kritikere for en fuldstændig omvæltning af det kapitalistiske system. Nogle, kendt som reformister, argumenterede for en mere gradvis tilgang og søgte at forbedre arbejderklassens forhold gennem juridiske og politiske reformer inden for det eksisterende system.
En af de mest indflydelsesrige figurer i reformismens historie var Eduard Bernstein, en tysk socialdemokrat, der argumenterede imod Karl Marx' revolutionære socialisme. Bernstein troede på, at kapitalismen kunne gradvist omdannes til socialisme gennem demokratiske midler, i stedet for gennem en voldelig revolution. Hans ideer, kendt som "evolutionær socialisme" eller "revisionisme", blev grundlaget for reformistisk ideologi.
Reformismen blev en stor kraft i politikken i mange vestlige lande i løbet af det 20. århundrede. I USA kan man f.eks. se den progressive bevægelse fra begyndelsen af det 20. århundrede og New Deal-politikken fra 1930'erne som former for reformisme. I Europa spillede reformistiske socialdemokratiske partier en stor rolle i etableringen af velfærdsstaten efter Anden Verdenskrig.
Imidlertid er reformisme også blevet kritiseret af både højre- og venstrefløjen. Konservative argumenterer ofte for, at reformistiske politikker fører til overdreven statslig indgriben i økonomien og underminerer individuel frihed og initiativ. På den anden side argumenterer radikale og revolutionære for, at reformisme er utilstrækkelig til at tackle de grundlæggende uretfærdigheder og uligheder i kapitalismen, og at en mere radikal transformation af samfundet er nødvendig.
Til trods for disse kritikker forbliver reformisme en betydelig politisk ideologi i mange lande rundt om i verden. Den fortsætter med at forme debatter om kapitalismens fremtid og de bedste måder at opnå social retfærdighed og lighed på.
